It’s All about Love

Love is arguably the best and worst emotion. Being in love can make you very very happy, but it can hurt you too. It’s a dangerous extreme. The best extreme there is really. I’ve never been in love, but that doesn’t mean I don’t know what it is.

I’ve experienced other forms of love. Like familial love and the friendship kind. But what really is love? It’s obviously more than liking. I have found though that a lot of the time ‘love’ is overused. Oh someone lent you a pencil when you didn’t have one? Better tell them ‘I love you’. (Actually happened.) What bothers me about this is that the person is trying to say thank you. However, the meaning is completely lost because they did not say ‘thank you’. They said ‘I love you’, which is untrue since they have no idea who this person is who lent them a pencil in the first place. ‘I love you’ in no way shows gratitude. Love shows affection.

Love to me is something very special. It’s complete trust. Complete acceptance and respect. Affection for a whole, entire person no matter what. And you can’t have that with just anyone. Love is unconditional. Unconditional because it can only be strong. There is no such thing as weak love or loving someone a little. If it is never weak then, it can never be broken. Therefore, love is a bond that is unbreakable. Either you love them with all your heart or not at all. Love is always a forever thing. That’s what makes it so special.

Now, do you mean it when you say ‘I love you’?
